Engine sealed and Perry Pump installed (Futaba Safari-Buggy)

Once the engine backplate and carburetor is air sealed, I installed the Perry Pump (also call Oscillating Pump):

VP-20 Oscillating pump
The VP-20 pump for your 4-cycle engine is used by thousands of modelers throughout the world because it is trouble free and provides the most reliable fuel delivery to your 4-cycle engine.

This pump mounts to the front or back of the crankcase, on a mounting plate supplied with the VP-20 and 22SG pumps.

The pumps are actuated by engine vibration. May also be used for 2-cycle engines. Not recommended for opposed multi-cylinder engines.

Installed Perry Pump on engine backplate

Headlights (Futata Safari-Buggy)

Front lights need repair

The headlights are in bad shape. Lots of cracks and after more than 25 years; the plastic is now very fragile. I need to repair the cracks and rebuild the damage parts at the same time make sure the plastic doesn’t crack in the future.

To fix the lights, I use two components polyester resin. Let it cure for about 20 mins and sand them to shape.

The results:

Next step is painting them yellow.

Repaired and repainted as yellow

… remind me to much about smiley so I decided to paint it white.

My daughter voted for metalic blue for the body while I want some orange and yellow. To achive all the colours we want to use, I decided to go with hot rod style; front flame with orange and yellow while the rest of the body will be covered with metalic blue. The seats will be coverd with dark blue, purple or black.

Quick prime and front paint

A quick spray with plastic prime and paint the front with “signal orange” with slightly overlay of transperant yellow. The metalic blue on right rear is a quick test to see how the colour will match with orange.

Primed and painted the front

Masking and paint it blue

Quick flame masks and paint the body with metalic blue. White headlights, custome made wind shield and Steering wheel from my son tractor.
